Who is Benjamin Dixon?
I was born in July of 1989 in Chesapeake, VA. My mother claims there was a major thunderstorm that night, which has been quite prophetic of my personality and life thus far! I grew up around south eastern Virginia and north eastern North Carolina. I have two siblings, an older sister and a younger brother. All around I had a pretty normal childhood, although I was more than a bit rebellious in school.
I joined the army at the age of 17. I served as an artilleryman in the 4th battalion, 320th Field artillery regiment. Attached to the 4th brigade combat team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault!). When we deployed, my platoon was attached to C co. 1/506 PIR (Currahee!) To eastern Afghanistan from 04/2008 until 04/2009. After leaving the army I returned to my home town of Virginia beach. I’ve primarily worked as an automotive technician since then. I did a stint in the French Foreign Legion, however after earning the coveted “kepi blanc” I returned to the states to father my beautiful daughter, Eva Grace.
My days as a professional soldier are finished. Family and freedom are what’s most important to me. I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, camping, weight lifting, firearms training, skateboarding, baseball and spending time with my daughter. I am a history fanatic! I especially enjoy reading about 19th and 20th century warfare, and the socioeconomic conditions surrounding them. I would like to earn a degree in history and international relations.
